1. What is Copilot?

Copilot is the new name for Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise, now generally available. It can be accessed from various platforms like copilot.microsoft.com, Bing.com/chat, Edge, and Windows, as well as through mobile apps.

2. Which Microsoft 365 licences are eligible for Copilot with commercial data protection at no additional cost?

Eligible licences include Microsoft 365 E3, E5, F1, F3, Business Standard, Business Premium, Business Basic, Apps for enterprise or business, and Office 365 E1, E3, E5, or F3.

3. Where is Copilot available?

Copilot is available in over 160 regions, excluding China (except Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan) and Russia. However, Simplified Chinese and Russian languages are supported.

4. Can I use Copilot with any browser?

Yes, Copilot supports Microsoft Edge (desktop and mobile) and other major browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

5. Is Copilot accessible via API?

No, there is currently no API available for Copilot.

6. Does Copilot with commercial data protection share information with OpenAI?

No, all chat data is processed by Microsoft, and no data is shared with OpenAI. Chat data is not retained or used to train models when commercial data protection is enabled.

7. Does Copilot work with Bing SafeSearch settings?

Yes, Copilot is compatible with all Bing SafeSearch settings, including Strict.

8. How can I prevent sensitive internal content from being summarised using Copilot in Microsoft Edge for Business?

Edge for Business enforces Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to prevent unauthorised data disclosure, which extends to Copilot in Edge.

9. What are the differences between Copilot and Copilot for Microsoft 365?

Copilot is a generative AI service using data from the public web, while Copilot for Microsoft 365 has access to organisational resources within the Microsoft 365 Graph and additional security features.

10. Can IT admins monitor or audit Entra ID activity or usage in Copilot?

No, Microsoft does not provide tools for IT admins to access chat history or retain chat data in Copilot with commercial data protection.

11. How can I manage commercial data protection in Copilot for specific users and groups?

Admins can use the Copilot service plan in the Microsoft 365 admin centre to manage commercial data protection for specific users and groups.

12. What kinds of things can employees do at work with Copilot?

Employees can generate content, analyse data, summarise documents, learn new skills, write code, plan business trips, and create social media content, among other tasks, with Copilot's assistance.
